- remain motivated enough to engage in these activities consistently
- believe that engaging in these activities will actually create the results they want
Mindset ALWAYS comes first.
Here are 5 ways you can develop the mindset for Network Marketing success :
One of the simplest ways to develop the mindset of a successful person is to spend time each day in personal development. By committing to read 10 pages a day – minimum – of a quality personal development book you will consume 3,650 pages of material each year. It is impossible to take in that much content without changing and growing as a person. While I love finding new personal development books to sink my teeth into, what I love even more is having a handful of core books to read again and again. Not only do you take in new information each time you re-read a book, but you’ll discover the way you absorb and respond to the content changes as you grow. When you think of it that way, you’re never really reading the same book twice. A few of my personal favorites include:
- Maximum Achievement – Brian Tracey
- Daring Greatly – Brene Brown
- The Slight Edge – Jeff Olson
- The Richest Man in Babylon – George S Clason
- Mach II With Your Hair on Fire – Richard Bliss Brooke
As I said at the beginning, the skills required to succeed in Network Marketing aren’t that difficult. That being said, they do take practice, and your business will grow significantly faster when you commit to focusing on and improving these skills. Not only does this focus improve your own skills, but it improves your ability to teach these skills to your team, resulting in more duplication and greater success for everyone involved.
One pitfall you want to make sure you avoid is falling into the trap of learning-only mode. You can read and listen to training until you are blue in the face, but it won’t matter one bit if you aren’t out there applying what you learn. For this reason I like to impose the 30-minute a day rule in my own Network Marketing training. If you are full-time, meaning you have MULTIPLE hours a day to devote solely to your Network Marketing business, you can increase this a little bit, but most people only have a couple of hours to devote to their business each day, and that time should be spent in ACTION!
For Network Marketing training, always start with the material recommended by your sponsor and your upline. Whatever training they recommend, devour it whole! There are also many great resources for generic Network Marketing training such as this blog, ntwrkr Magazine, and various books/training CDs you can get. My recommendation here is to ask your sponsor and upline what materials THEY recommend and plug into it.
Are you short on time? You can integrate your personal development and training time into your daily routine by listening to audio books or training calls while you’re driving, cleaning the house, at the gym, etc. If you only have an hour or two to spend on your business each day, I highly recommend fitting these two activities into your life elsewhere, and allocating your business-building time to income producing activities!
This is a fun one! One of the surest ways to improve your mindset and build your belief is to spend time dreaming about your ideal lifestyle, and how your Network Marketing success can help make that life a reality for you. Vision provides the connection between the activities you need to take in your business each day, and WHY you are doing them! Ultimately, we all joined Network Marketing because we believed it would have a positive impact on our lives. Spend some time thinking about the specific things Network Marketing can give you, then put them together in a vision board or video! Here are some ideas :
- If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? Grab a photo of that location and put it into your dream board or video.
- What does your dream house look like? Is it a condo in the city, or a home in the country? Find a photo for inspiration and include it.
- What kind of car – or cars – would you LOVE to drive? Print out a photo or save one to add to your vision video.
I’d like to encourage you to spend some time thinking about your IDEAL vision for your life in as much detail as possible. Think about every facet of a perfect day in your life from the moment you wake up until the moment you go to sleep. Once you’re done, print or save photos that represent this vision you have created. You can display your photos on a bulletin board where you can see it every day, or put photos together in a vision video set to some of your favorite music – there are lots of free programs online for this. Just google it!
Once you get clear on exactly what you want your life to look like and how the activities in your business can help you achieve it, your belief builds and you start seeing your business as the inevitable path to your success! This belief provides you with the self-motivation to stay in consistent activity every day!
Do you want to get your family on-board with your business? Include them in your dream building process! Ask your spouse what their dream car looks like and find out what vacation destination your kids would love to visit! Having a shared vision as a family for exactly WHAT your Network Marketing business can do creates a supportive atmosphere that keeps everyone excited.
Nothing builds your belief quite like attending an event with hundreds or thousands of your fellow Network Marketers! Events build belief. It’s a fact and one you should keep in mind for yourself AND your team! Create a culture of attending events by leading by example and never missing an event yourself.
Events provide you with the opportunity to meet a ton of other men and women who are on the same mission as you! You’ll get to meet and hear from the top earners and leaders in your company and see firsthand exactly what they’ve done to create the success YOU want! Events take your business from your head to your heart, turning it from just something you “do” to a part of who you are! There are many ways to get trained on how to do your business, but the only way to get that business into you is to attend events.
As a sponsor, it’s your responsibility to make sure your team knows the importance of attending events to build their own belief. Create a culture of event attendance by talking about the events often, helping team members find roommates and brainstorming on creative ways to use your business or products to earn the funds to attend.
A taste of success in your business always provides a boost of belief and has a powerful impact on your mindset. When you acquire a new customer or team member, or help someone on your team do the same, it reinforces the fact that what you’re doing is working and your actions are paying off!
And what’s the surest way to get that taste of success? Stay coach-able and follow the system. Find someone in your upline who already has the success you desire and do what they did to create it. If your sponsor is also new, or doesn’t have a simple-to-follow system in place for teaching you how to find people to talk to, present your opportunity, enroll new team members and teach them how to do the same, go upline until you find someone who does!
Sometimes we have the tendency to go rogue and do things our own way. I can’t stress enough, if you want to achieve success in your company as quickly as possible, do NOT reinvent the wheel! Following the system your sponsor or upline has in place can save you a lot of time and heartache. It will help you avoid any of the same mistakes they made, and you can rest confidently in the belief that what you’re doing WILL work, because it’s already been done with success!
Following these 5 simple steps will build your belief and help you develop the mindset for Network Marketing success. By committing to daily personal development and training, creating a vision board or video, attending events and plugging into the system you will begin to experience your own success, which will snowball into even greater belief!
I believe that you have everything it takes to be successful in Network Marketing and these 5 things will help you believe it too!
